My lil Artist

Ava is such a little artist. We make about 2 trips per week to hobby lobby to get things to do "projects" and she is constantly making pictures and doing art for us. It's quite cute actually because all of the pictures are of me, Steve her and Brynn and everyone is always happy and smiling. Sometimes she adds a few others and when I ask who they are it's grandmother and grandad or Gigi and Papi. Every day when I pick her up from school, she is sitting at the table coloring or making a picture. I'm beginning to wonder if she's going to be a creative artsy type?

This is all of us + emma, will, erik and Christy
at Ava's birthday party.  please note the balloons at the top

This is Ava, Brynn, mommy, daddy, gigi, papi and grandmother and grandad
Apparently some of us have huge ears....and we all have curly hair

Brynn is picking up words at warp speed.  We have been watching Elmo's alphabet jungle and she is starting to learn her letters.  We were shocked one day when the letter B showed up on the screen and she yelled "B"  She has quite the sassy attitude and when she doesn't get what she wants she throws herself down on the floor.  It's hilarious.  Ava just loves to correct her and teach her how to behave; although Ava has a few things she could learn herself.

As for me I had my MRI last week finally and I was in that tube for an entire hour.  I did okay though, didn't panic.  No results yet, but no news is good news.

If there is a mess to be made or something for Brynn to climb she is going to find it.  She's also been quite good at finding any and every ant bed that pops up in the back yard.

why sit in the chair when you can climb up on the table?

She found a k-cup and made this mess in the blink of an eye

My MRI was rescheduled because they gave me the wrong stuff to drink. I had another painful episode last night that started at 12:30 and lasted until 2 am. Had to get up at 4 am to catch a flight. I'm TIRED!!!!!!

Ava's 1st Soccer Game

Ava and her bestie Emma had their first soccer game on Saturday.  It was a bit of an unorganized disaster.  By the time everything was organized and the game started the girls could have cared less.  They stood on the field watching everyone run by them.  Ava jumped in one time and grabbed the ball with her hands.  When she got called on it by the ref she ran off the field crying and refused to go back on the field.  It was pretty comical.  She promised that next week she would "try" and play.   Daddy is going to practice with her this week and he'll actually be at the game next week, so we'll see how she does.

Brynn totally wanted to get out there and play.  She was enjoying it.

Prayers please

So I have been waking up in the middle of the night with terrible pain in my upper abdomen.  It lasts for 2-3 hours and I have been to the doctor and had an ultrasound.  The ultrasound revealed gall stones so the doc told me I'd probably need surgery to get my gall bladder removed.  He first wanted me to see a GI doctor to get everything else checked out before scheduling the surgery.  So I visited the GI doctor and he says my pancreatic enzyme levels are higher than normal and scheduled me for an MRI on Friday.  Please pray that they find nothing on my MRI on friday and that this is nothing more than a simple gall stone problem.   Steve will not be with me and I'll be by myself so pray for strength that I don't freak out as they push me into that scary tube!

Brynny Boo Smarty Pants

Every day when I go pick the girls up from school, Brynn's teachers tell me how smart she is.  I'm sure they tell all the parents this, but I still love ot hear it.  They say she knows all of her classmates names, she's learning her colors very quickly and loves reading books.  They also say she is such a sweet girl and very much a girly girl. Does not like for them to remove her shoes for any reason at all.

Brynny is picking up more and more words.  She knows all of the characters of sesame street and loves reading her elmo books so that she can name all of them out loud.  Her favorite book is Night Night Elmo.    She stepped into the flowerbed the other day and ants were crawling on her feet and biting her and all she did was slap them and say "no!, no no!"  Then later would look at me and point to her feet and say "biiiiite"

She loves to tell everyone NO all the time.  Even pretends to answer the phone and then screams "NO!" in the phone and hangs up.

I don't know if I've mentioned on here but Brynny does not react well to mosquito bites. If she is bit on the forehead she looks like she has horns on her head, and the other day she was bit right by her eye and woke up the next morning with a swollen eye :(

Truly blessed

I am feeling so blessed and as we are getting into the season of thankfulness, these are all of the things I thank God for the most:

  • My husband for moving to Houston and attending that NYE party in 2002 :)
  • My two girls and the absolute miracle that they are
  • My new MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group I joined at a church nearby
  • The wonderful neighbors we have met out here who have turned in to great friends
  • My job which I absolutely LOVE
  • That my job allows me the flexibility to be fully present in my children's lives
  • That I finally found my brother after all of these years
  • My grandparents for stepping in to raise me and giving me a wonderful, stable life
  • My aunts for stepping in as 2nd mothers when I needed them (and still need them) most
  • My cousins whom I love dearly
  • My relationship with my siblings and that they are such a huge part of my life despite what we've been through and the obstacles we faced.
  • That I married into a great family and gained in-laws that love my children so
  • My girlfriends who are always there no matter what
  • Our health and our children's health
