12 weeks
Ava is 3 months old now! This week she found her hands and has been sucking on them non stop. She still hasn't quite figured out her thumb but she keeps those hands in her mouth as much as she can. She has gotten so much better in the car. Now instead of throwing a fit she sits quietly until she falls asleep. She may fuss a little but not much. I got her a toy that lights up and plays music so that she can watch it while we are in the car. It has a remote control for me in the front seat so that I can control the volume, the lights and the music. She loves it! She also loves being in the baby bjorn. We went shopping with Tiffany and Calvin on Friday and she had a great time looking out and seeing the world. It's also the best way for me to grocery shop. As long as she is upright and able to see everything around her, she is happy.

Steve was out of town all week on a hunting trip and I was a single mom. Good thing I got used to that while he was working such long hours after the hurricane. Ava is easy, but the dogs are another story! Magnum is such a handful. They are no longer allowed on the furniture so I put two feather pillows in Biscuit's kennel because she is such a little princess. Apparently Magnum liked her kennel more so he has been hanging out with biscuit in her kennel instead of laying in his own.
Baby Ethan had his surgery on Thursday and it went so well! He already has all of his tubes out and is on minimal pain medication. They are working on teaching him to eat so he should be able to go home with his mom and dad by Wednesday! He's such a little fighter! Thanks to everyone for all of your prayers and for trying to donate blood. I know there were some issues with Gulf Coast Blood Bank so if you still want to donate you can do so before his next surgery which will be in a few months.

Baby Ethan - Blood Donations
Baby Ethan has his first surgery on Tuesday morning at Memorial Hermann Childrens Hospital. If you can and are willing to donate blood, Michael and Kristi are asking that you donate in Ethan Michael Mungovan's name. You can be any blood type, as it is kind of a swap program, in that Ethan gets the blood he needs and your blood goes to someone that needs it. It ensures that they can keep up the supply. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for little Ethan.
Isn't he just a precious little Angel?

Pumpkin Patch
We took Ava to the pumpkin patch at our church today. I have been looking forward to this for a long time. She wore a cute little outfit that her aunt Kristin and Grandmother got her. It has a little witch on it and it says "Mommy is under my spell". She looked so precious sitting in the little pumpkins. Anyway we took some pictures of course and for once I'm actually IN a picture with my child. Can you believe it? We left with one huge pumpkin and a baby pumpkin for Ava. :)
Ava 11 Weeks
This has been a fun week with Ava. She's loving her toys and now coordinated enough to grab them and pull them up to her mouth. She's started inspecting everything by putting it in her mouth. We have had so much fun watching her grow and learn new things. One thing she just loves more than anything is laying on the bed and watching the fan go. She sees that fan and gets a big smile on her face. Last weekend my mom watched her for a while and said that all she had to do to stop her fussing was to lay her in the bed and let her watch the fan. She of course played with her and had Ava just a grinning and talking to her. My mom called today asking when she can watch Ava again because she had so much fun with her. She is just such a happy baby and we are enjoying her so much. The only time she fusses is when she has a poopy diaper or she's tired and ready for a nap. She's now on enough of a schedule that I know when she's going to be hungry and when she's going to need to nap.
Wednesday I had lunch with my friends Kelley & Michelle and their babies Amelia (10 months) and Gunnar (14 months). We got to catch up and have mommy talk while getting out of the house. Ava wore one of her little Halloween outfits.

Ava always wants to stand on her legs and kick when I'm holding her so I was dying to see if she was big enough yet to play in her jumparoo. Thursday I decided to put it together and see. Of course when I put her in it she was still too small and her feet cleared the floor by about 6 inches. She loved the bright colored jungle toys so much though so I couldn't take her out right away. I put a box under her feet and let her sit in it and play with the toys. She had so much fun in it and was surpised when it would bounce. We got a good chuckle watching her play in it and bounce aroundn all awkwardly. I know that when she's big enough she is going to LOVE playing in her jumparoo.

Baby Ethan Update
Today we found out that baby Ethan has what's called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. They are going to perform 1 of a series of 4 surgeries on him on Tuesday. The last surgery will be when he is around 2-3 years old. The doctors are optimistic and have given the family a good outlook for him. Mom and Dad are doing as good as can be expected but were happy to hear the hopeful news from the doctors.
Ava has a new Cousin!
Ethan Michael was born on

6lbs 2oz
18 inches long

My cousin Michael and his wife Kristi had their first baby yesterday! A sweet little boy. He was a little early due to blood pressure issues with mommy. I went to visit him today and he is just as precious as can be. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and will most likely need surgery as early as tomorrow. The entire family is just so saddened with the news but we are all praying for him and keeping our hopes high that he will be just fine. We should know more tomorrow. It just breaks my heart that little innocent babies have to go through things like this.

10 weeks
Hey everyone! Aren't I cute?
Ava is getting to where I can now sit her down in her bassinet with a toy or put her in her bouncy and she can entertain herself for a good while. It's been nice to be able to do a load of laundry or sweep the floors while she plays. She wakes up in the morning super happy. The first thing we do is go to her room and change her for the day and as soon as I lay her on her changing table she is all smiles and coos. I'm trying really hard to get video of the cooing and smiling so I can post it on here. She absolutely loves when I sing "itsy bitsy spider" to her which we do every morning. I also have a morning wake up song that I sing to her when she wakes up. She grins from ear to ear when she sees me and hears her song. She also loves to be outside! We've tried the rice cereal a few times for her reflux and she is not a big fan of it so I haven't given it to her every day. She has good days and bad days with spitting up. She had really good days earlier in the week and is back to lots of spitting up as of yesterday and today. We went to lunch earlier in the week with my friend Rhonda and her baby Kate. Avadid not want to be in her car seat but
had to be sitting up or standing in my lap where she could see the world. Then she was a little doll and went to sleep for mommy! I couldn't believe it because she never does that.

It gives Ava a chance to get
used to her since she'll be watching her when I go back to work, and it gives me a chance to get out of the house stress free. Ava just hates the car and everytime we get in to go somewhere I'm a big ball of stress just wondering when the meltdown will occur. She's been a
lot better lately in that she'll fuss a little and then go to sleep. I found that if I roll the back windows down a bit the noise soothes her. Last night we went over to my friend Emily's house to hang out with the girls and Sara got Ava a little halloween goodie basket with a witch hat and a mummy bib.

He woke up in the middle of the night with chills, fever, nausea and body aches. I'm praying that Ava doesn't come down with it. I also hope I don't get it since I have to care for her but I'm more concerned about her. We are trying to keep our distance today just in case.

9 Weeks- Shots!!
Well Ava had her 2 month check up on Monday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. She now weighs 9lbs 14oz and is 23.5 inches long. Her pediatrician said that she will never be a chunky michelin baby but will always be a long and thin baby. I told her I wasn't surprised since her dad and I were both bean poles growing up. She also said that Ava has a bit of reflux (hence all the spitting up) so she suggested giving her a tspn of cereal per ounce of milk once a day or a few times a week. With all of the concerns about allergies when feeding solids too early I asked her if it was okay to feed her cereal this early and she said it isn't a problem if food allergies didn't run in the family. ATTN: Family: If anyone had or has food allergies please let me know before I start feeding her cereal!
During the visit Ava was so cute. She didn't even mind us taking off her clothes and laid up on the table naked with a big ole grin on her face. She was cooing and smiling the entire time. The doctor said she was a beautiful happy baby and has the strength of a 4 month old! Then after the doctor left she started to get tired and fell asleep just before the lady with the shots came in. We had to wake her up to lay her down on the table again and that's when the crying started. Since she was already crying before they gave her the shots it wasn't so bad. She cried harder last week when she was nursing and I coughed (it startled her and you would have thought I dropped her on the floor or something with the way she was screaming). Anyway she had 3 shots in her legs which I hated watching and then they gave her an oral vaccine that she liked the taste of so she immediately stopped crying when they put it in her mouth. After that she was a happy baby again and fell asleep in the car on the way home.
We still don't get to see much of Steve since hurricane Ike. His schedule has now been reduced from 16 hours a day 7 days a week to 12 hours a day 7 days week. He is so burned out and then we watch people on the news complaining about Centerpoint and how they need to work harder. It's really frustrating. If only these people knew how hard they WERE working! I mean don't they realize that the Centerpoint employees lost their power too! uggh!
