Ava and her bestie Emma had their first soccer game on Saturday. It was a bit of an unorganized disaster. By the time everything was organized and the game started the girls could have cared less. They stood on the field watching everyone run by them. Ava jumped in one time and grabbed the ball with her hands. When she got called on it by the ref she ran off the field crying and refused to go back on the field. It was pretty comical. She promised that next week she would "try" and play. Daddy is going to practice with her this week and he'll actually be at the game next week, so we'll see how she does.
Brynn totally wanted to get out there and play. She was enjoying it.

Prayers please
So I have been waking up in the middle of the night with terrible pain in my upper abdomen. It lasts for 2-3 hours and I have been to the doctor and had an ultrasound. The ultrasound revealed gall stones so the doc told me I'd probably need surgery to get my gall bladder removed. He first wanted me to see a GI doctor to get everything else checked out before scheduling the surgery. So I visited the GI doctor and he says my pancreatic enzyme levels are higher than normal and scheduled me for an MRI on Friday. Please pray that they find nothing on my MRI on friday and that this is nothing more than a simple gall stone problem. Steve will not be with me and I'll be by myself so pray for strength that I don't freak out as they push me into that scary tube!
Brynny Boo Smarty Pants
Every day when I go pick the girls up from school, Brynn's teachers tell me how smart she is. I'm sure they tell all the parents this, but I still love ot hear it. They say she knows all of her classmates names, she's learning her colors very quickly and loves reading books. They also say she is such a sweet girl and very much a girly girl. Does not like for them to remove her shoes for any reason at all.
Brynny is picking up more and more words. She knows all of the characters of sesame street and loves reading her elmo books so that she can name all of them out loud. Her favorite book is Night Night Elmo. She stepped into the flowerbed the other day and ants were crawling on her feet and biting her and all she did was slap them and say "no!, no no!" Then later would look at me and point to her feet and say "biiiiite"
She loves to tell everyone NO all the time. Even pretends to answer the phone and then screams "NO!" in the phone and hangs up.
I don't know if I've mentioned on here but Brynny does not react well to mosquito bites. If she is bit on the forehead she looks like she has horns on her head, and the other day she was bit right by her eye and woke up the next morning with a swollen eye :(

Truly blessed
I am feeling so blessed and as we are getting into the season of thankfulness, these are all of the things I thank God for the most:
- My husband for moving to Houston and attending that NYE party in 2002 :)
- My two girls and the absolute miracle that they are
- My new MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group I joined at a church nearby
- The wonderful neighbors we have met out here who have turned in to great friends
- My job which I absolutely LOVE
- That my job allows me the flexibility to be fully present in my children's lives
- That I finally found my brother after all of these years
- My grandparents for stepping in to raise me and giving me a wonderful, stable life
- My aunts for stepping in as 2nd mothers when I needed them (and still need them) most
- My cousins whom I love dearly
- My relationship with my siblings and that they are such a huge part of my life despite what we've been through and the obstacles we faced.
- That I married into a great family and gained in-laws that love my children so
- My girlfriends who are always there no matter what
- Our health and our children's health

Ava's 4 year check up
Ava was a very brave girl today at her 4 year check up. We have been mentally preparing her for the appointment for a few days because we knew she was getting shots (4 shots!). We told her that she would be getting poked but that everyone, mommy, daddy, Brynny and even Biscuit and Magnum have to get shots to stay healthy and protect us from getting really sick. We promised her that after her appointment we would take her to the store and let her pick out any toy she wanted (this was actually the pediatrician's suggestion and it worked). So she wasn't scared at all! She also got a hearing and vision test which she passed with flying colors.
We got to the appointment and the nurse asked her if she wanted her flu vaccine as a nasal mist or a shot and she said "I don't like it in my nose, I want a shot" We opted for the mist and she did fine with that. Before the nurse came in with the shots Ava told us "I'm gonna be brave"
Of course she was very upset and milked it for all it was worth afterwards, but we are very proud of her and how she handled everything.
Here are her stats:
Height: 3'5.38" (41.5 inches) 79th percentile
Weight: 34 lbs 38th percentile
BP 88/50
very healthy girl!
A funny I have to share:
When Gigi and Papi were here last weekend, Papi was reading with her and asking her to identify her letters. He told a story about how she needed to tell him what the letter was so the mean witch would let him out of the castle. She came to me and said "mommy are any mean witches gonna come to our house?" I said no of course, and she said "then why is Papi a Lion?"
Then one night she informed Steve that boys have stinky hiney's and girls hiney's smell pretty. ????

Brynn's Baptism
Brynn was baptized this morning during church service. She didn't even cry when Dr. Pace took her from me and baptized her. She was good until he put water on her head and then her little bottom lip stuck out and the whimpering began. She was too precious.
