Ava at 31 months

Well my buggy is doing just fabulous and is quite the talker and has the sweetest yet sassiest personality.  Here is a snapshot of what Ava can do now at 31 months:

She is almost completely potty trained!!  She does have the occasional accident when she’s distracted or playing but for the most part we have been able to take her out and about in panties and she’s been able to wear panties all day.  You do have to remind her to go often but she’s getting much better about telling us when she needs to go tee tee.   She just really hates for us to tell her to go the potty.  She fights us hard on that, although at school she doesn’t fight them at all.  We have also officially transitioned her up into her new bedroom upstairs and she didn’t blink an eye.  It has been completely smooth and she hasn’t been upset about it at all.  We were worried because she would be further away and we weren’t moving the glider up there.  Usually at night we would “night night rock” for a little bit before she would go in her crib.  I was worried that would mess up her routine and she would be upset, but she has done great!  Instead of rocking she sits in my lap, says her prayers and tells me stories about the day while giving me hugs and kisses.  Then she walks to her crib like a big girl and I help her in and tuck her in.  She always insists that daddy bring her ice water before she will go to sleep (just an excuse to see daddy one more time before going to sleep).   Such a sweet girl!

·         Her latest thing is doing things like a big girl.  She often says “look daddy I do it by my big grill!”  Not by myself or like a big girl, but “by my big grill”

·         She loves riding her tricycle and is quite the pro!  She goes out every evening and rides all around the neighborhood with daddy.

·         She hates messes and is very quick to point out “oh no, look at that mess!”  Today we were leaving and she said “mommy look at that mess daddy made”
·         On the way in to school we called Daddy and she got on the phone and said “daddy you don’t make a mess again!”

·         She knows her abc’s, her shapes, her colors (although for some reason she often gets pink and green confused), and she can count in English and Spanish.

·         She loves pediasure and often asks for her “pediasugar”  We give it to her as a rare treat, but she loves it!

·         She can dress herself

·         She absolutely loves school and monkeynastix.  We are going to enroll her in gymnastics here very soon.  She’s also going to take swim lessons with cousin Trent this summer.

·         Our neighbor says Ava is her own biggest fan because she loves to show off and is constantly telling everyone “hey everybody look at Ava!”

·         She hates slow songs and is quick to tell me “mommy I don’t like this song, it’s too slow”, but loves music with a beat.  She’s a big Katy Perry fan.

·         Dora the explorer, the backyardigans and care bears are the top of her list of cartoons right now.  Steve is so over Dora and can hardly stand to be in the room when it’s on.  I feel the same about yo gabba gabba, it literally makes me nauseous when it’s on.

·         She is eating very well and we have been successful in getting her to try just about any food, but she’s still picky about what she likes.  Steve often bribes her with chips or marshmallows, milk works for me usually.  I say if she eats a green bean and then gets a marshmallow, so be it!  Last night she wouldn’t eat her chicken because it was moist.  She told us it was wet and she didn’t like it.  So Steve literally dried off each piece of chicken with a paper towel and then she gobbled it down along with her corn, peas and green beans.

·         She loves her baby dolls and often puts them to bed or in time out.  The other day we asked her why she was putting her baby in timeout and she said “cuz she say “No” and she not doing her job!”  She also puts her baby on the potty, swaddles her, gives her a paci and puts a “pamper” on her to the best of her ability.

·         When I take her to the potty in a public restroom she says “oh no don’t touch the potty, it has germs.  Ava will get germs on my hiney”
