Poor Ava

Well we broke the news to Ava that Emma is moving.  She immediately burst into tears and is devastated.  We both had a good cry.  We are encouraging her to seek out friends at school and reminding her that she still has many other friends on just our street to play with.  We told her she could FaceTime Emma whenever she wants, but her biggest concern is how often we can drive to Oklahoma for a play date.

My poor sweet girl. She really is the sweetest child.  We are so blessed to be her parents.

Brynn's birthday request

Brynn's birthday party will be at our house on Sunday, April 6th.  Save the date family!

She has specifically requested a ballerina party with a ballerina cake and a ballerina table with sprinkles on it.  Recently in the car she said "mommy, when is my birthday party" and I said "not until April" and she said "okay I want a ballerina party please with a ballerina cake"

Then one day she was on the phone with Gigi and said "you can come to my birthday" and gigi said "Thank you, I'm sending you a package too" and Brynn said "okay you can put a toy in it if you want"  Girl knows what she wants!

She loves dancing and doing "ballet" and can't wait until she's old enough to go to ballet like Ava did.

One day in the car we also had this conversation

Brynn: mommy can I go to grandmother and graddad's?
Me: Sure, when do you want to go?
Brynn: next year (thinks for a little bit)....no right now
Me: we can't go now, granddad is at work
Brynn:  what about grandmother?
Me: She might be at home, but I'm not sure what she has planned today
Brynn:  Okay, I like grandmother

Yesterday we had a play date with some friends and Brynn does not like me holding other babies.  So she got fussy when I was holding my friends little toddler.  When I put the little girl down, Brynn went up to her and shoved her down to the ground.  I was so embarrassed and of course Brynn got time out.  On the way home I asked her why she did that and she said "because I don't like babies!"  I said why not, and she said "because you hold babies and you're MY mommy, you only supposed to hold me"

February Updates

Ava got her 2nd report card recently and she is doing so well!!!   She got perfect attendance again and She's ahead of the benchmark on where she needs to be and is really enjoying school.  She's reading and writing and she's really doing well phonetically.  She gets the sounding out of words when writing.  It's hilarious to see her interpretation of some words though based on how they sound to her.  We are so proud of her.

We recently celebrated the 100th day of kindergarten and the school had a big event at school.   I volunteered and Ava was so excited about that.  Of course I was exhausted at the end of the day after dealing with all of those very energetic kindergartners, but it's really nice to be involved in the school and doing things with the PTO.  We had to make her a shirt with 100 things glued to it for 100th day.

She's also making great progress in swimming!  She's practically swimming on her own and we think she'll be able to go without floaties this summer.  Her swim instructor is really good with her and she loves going.  She gets really upset if class is cancelled or we even hint that we might miss class that week.

Brynny boo is also doing wonderfully and loves swimming.  I'm getting a little frustrated though with the school because they don't seem to have made much progress with her.  It seems like every week she's doing the same exact thing she did the week before.  I know that the point is really to get two year olds comfortable in the water, but I'd really like her to learn to get to the side!

Brynn is also becoming super picky on what she will eat and dinner time is becoming more and more of a challenge.  Ava eats vegetables, but Brynn will not.  They do not like many of the same foods anymore so dinner time consists of them trading foods with each other.

I always imagined the girls getting to the point where they sleep together in Ava's bed and we are now there.  Brynn wants to sleep upstairs with Ava all of the time now.  So on the weekends they both sleep upstairs and every morning Brynn wakes up and says "mommy I have so much fun sleeping in Ava's bed"

Yesterday we were at Luby's and Brynn was eating Macaroni and Cheese.  She said "mommy I eat all of my macaroni and it's going in my intesteens now"  LOL!  She's definitely interested in the human body and wants me to buy her an "intesteens book" since the one we had was just a loan from the library.  I did buy her the little human body model to play with, but haven't received it yet!

Today's Conversation between Brynn and Steve:

Brynn:  Daddy do you have blood in your hands?
Steve:  No I don't have blood on my hands, why?
Brynn:  Yes you do have blood IN your hands, everybody has blood in their hands cuz your a human!
Ava:  Only Aliens don't have blood because they are not human beings

Doctor Brynn

Brynn took a big interest in a book that Ava checked out from the library on the digestive system. :)
Aunt Courtney (a science teacher) brought over the human body for the girls to play with.
