Baptism

Ava was baptized today at St. Lukes. She was an angel throughout the service and even started talking and smiling at the pastor just before she went up on the alter. We were sure she'd stick that bottom lip out and start crying as soon as the pastor picked her up, but she didn't! She was a little angel. I really think she enjoyed the choir singing and the colored robes they had on.

4 months old

Ava is 4 months old today! We had her 4 month check up yesterday and saw another pediatrician. Apparently ours has gone part time and was booked through January. We really liked this pediatrician though. She was great and said Ava is growing beautifully. Ava was playing jump jump jumparoo in our laps and was very talkative and happy. Her new stats:

12lbs 4.5oz

24 1/2 inches

15 3/4 head circ.

Her shots were not bad at all and she took them like a champ. In fact she didn't even start crying until after the nurse was already finished with the shots. This time she only had two shots (one in each leg) and an oral vaccine which she loved. Steve was able to go this time and was glad that it wasn't as bad as we expected. I loved having him there with me and I know Ava did too since she was jumping around in his lap in the waiting room and then burying her head into his chest after her shots. She loves her daddy.

Afterwards we went out to Courtney's to help her out with baby Trent. He is a little jaundiced so he has to sleep on a light. I think it turned out to be a little blessing in disguise because the first night home she had problems getting him to sleep in his bassinet, he was just like Ava and only wanted to sleep right next to mommy where it was warm and cozy and food was nearby. The light keeps him warm and cozy and the sound of the motor going is good white noise so he sleeps very peacefully in there. He ended up sleeping most of the time so it was more like Court helping me with Ava who was a bit fussy from her shots. We finally got her down for a nap later in the afternoon and then I got to focus on Trent for a little bit before I left. I'm not sure I was much help but hopefully it was nice just to have some company! Court said "Ava you are more work than the 5 day old!" haha. We can only imagine what we are in for when she is mobile! look out Biscuit and Magnum!

Ava 16 weeks

This has been an exciting week in our household. Ava finally figured out that sleeping in her crib isn't so bad and she now goes down without a fuss or with little fuss at all. I think she actually enjoys sleeping in there. This weekend she has been a little under the weather, but seems to be better today. Friday and Saturday she had a runny nose all day and was very fussy. Naps were a waste so yesterday we finally got her to lay down in the afternoon and she took a very long nap while I went to visit my cousin Courtney and baby Trent in the hospital. After that she seemed to be feeling better and was happy as can be.

Her new thing is that she loves to play jump jump jumparoo in our laps. It is the cutest thing because we'll be holding her and all of the sudden she'll bend her knees and start bouncing so we have to bounce her up and down while she throws her legs up and down to bounce. Sometimes she looks like she's tap dancing. She is also loving that she can grasp things and her hand is constantly in grabbing motion even in her sleep. She grabs anything she can get her little tiny hads on and puts it right into her mouth. She is of course always all smiles, coos and raspberries. We have her 4 month check up and shots on Tuesday. YIKES! I'm dreading the shots but looking forward to seeing how much she's grown since our last appointment.

Baby Ethan- 5 weeks

I'm back with more good baby news. Baby Ethan is at home (has been for about 3 weeks now) and is doing great! He is the spitting image of Michael when he was a baby. Definitely his daddy's boy and just as precious and sweet as can be. I got to feed him while I was there and change his diaper. Mommy is doing well and is all settled in to mommyhood. He had a little cold so she had to give him some saline drops and use the booger snatcher in his nose which he did not like at all, but his little protests were just adorable. He is gaining weight and is now a good 7lbs 14 oz! Yay for Ethan!!! His next surgery is scheduled for May 2009.

Courtney is doing amazing. You wouldn't even know she just had a baby yesterday. Baby Trent is happy and healthy. What an exciting Thanksgiving this is going to be!

Baptism Class

We had Ava's baptism class which is really more for the parents on Sunday. It was to go over what happens on that day and what Baptism for an infant means in the church etc. Anyway this is a picture of her before the class. She has her new shoes on too :) Mommy is a little tired as you can see.

The class was about an hour long and there were several other parents in there with babies Ava's age, including our friends Rhonda and Kevin with Ava's little friend Kate who is getting baptized with Ava. We chuckled on the way home because Ava's personality was more apparent to us in that class than ever. All of the other babies were mellow, may wimper a little bit and then doze off to sleep with a bottle. One even fell right asleep in her dads arms (foreign concept to us), but not our little Ava. No way! She had to be standing and kicking those little legs at all times. Steve held her most of the time and she was watching everyone and would get a smile on her face when she noticed another baby. We caught her a few times smiling at baby Kate (who was being a sweet girl and sitting quietly or taking a bottle). Then the best part...she let out a big toot in the middle of class! Everyone got a chuckle out of that!!
