1st Day of Summer Camp

Ava was very excited to start Summer Camp!  She was most excited about the playground of course.  On her first day they attended chapel, heard the story of Noah's Ark and said their prayers.  The teachers said she was a total chatterbox at the lunch table.  I wish I could have heard what she was telling her little friends.  When I asked Ava what she did at camp she said "we say our prayers and I go to sleep and I wake up and my mommy come to get me"  I guess all she remembered was nap time.  Oh well...Thursday is petting zoo day so I'm sure she'll really enjoy that!

chunka monk's 2 month stats

Weight:  12.5 lbs  90%
Height: 24 inches   95%
Head Circ:  16.3 inch   95%

Everything looks and sounds great!  Doctor said that her skin rash is common in small infants and that it's just seborrhea and will go away soon.  Already on it's way out thank goodness.  Everything else looks and sounds great!  Yay for my wittle chunka monk!!!  When she got the shots she cried so hard she went silent and turned purple for a second.  It was very short lived though and she was back to normal soon after.  Not so happy tonight though, one fussy baby.  She needs lots of loves and cuddles.

8 weeks

Brynn was going through a growth spurt last week so she spent the first half of the week super fussy and fighting sleep. She would not let me sit her down and would not sleep! I was at my wits end!!! Then almost like clock work the day she turned 7 weeks old, the fussiness disappeared, she was all smiles and started putting herself to sleep at night in her nap nanny every evening. She instantly goes to sleep in the Baby Bjorn too. Everyone else is really starting to see the resemeblance between Ava and Brynn now. I sware it's like dejavu looking at her. It's like I'm doing the baby stage with Ava all over again. Brynn is definitely a little more relaxed than Ava was. She sleeps in the car as long as it's moving, she naps really good and has more of an eating schedule than Ava did. She doesn't have reflux as bad as Ava did so we've been able to stop her medicine and she doesn't spit up as much. I guess because of the eating schedule and less spit up she is also chunkier! I call her my little chunka monk. Steve has named her his little twiddlebug so he now has a doodlebug and a twiddlebug.

A preview of the Horrible Three's...

I've heard from many moms that the terrible twos aint got nothin on the antics of a three year old.  Well this lucky lady experienced it first hand last week at wal-mart!  Ava is usually a doll in the store and very rarely misbehaves in any way.  Well this day I think I may have accidentally put someone elses child in my cart before entering the store because this one was clearly channeling the devil.  Everything was going nicely, I stopped at McDonald's and got her a drink and treated myself to Dr. Pepper (I LOVE fountain drinks).  We were shopping along nicely until she set her sights on a toy that she had to have.  When I didn't pick it up for her she started whining and whining and when she realized she still wasn't getting her way she started letting out blood curdling screams (I think I actually felt blood dripping from my ears).  Any attempts at quieting her resulted in even louder screaming, So I had my first leave the full grocery cart in the middle of the aisle and walk out of the store experiences.  I got many looks as I made the trek out to the car with my infant strapped to my chest in the baby bjorn and some other lady's screaming banshee toddler hanging from my hip.  Mom's gave me the sympathetic "oh I remember those days" and "hang in there sister" looks and older folks and a few others gave me the "I would beat that child within an inch of her life" or "you must be a really bad parent" look.

Poor Brynn was so upset that we had lost her sister and this other lady's child screamed all the way home.  Brynn's little lip was quivering in fear and she too joined in on the screaming. As soon as we got home I put  the eldest screaming child in her thinking time chair. When I returned, there sat my sweet little Ava telling me she felt "better now" and down for a nap she went.  I hope that we can nip this behavior in the bud real quick because I am going to be PISSED if I have to leave my full Dr. Pepper (fountain from McDonalds thank you!) that I was so excited to treat myself to, in my cart again.

So note to self:  wear ear plugs next time I go shopping, suck down my dr. pepper before going by the toy aisle.
